New Zealand has 17 wind farms comprised of 490 turbines. These wind farms currently have a combined installed capacity of 690 MW and supply nearly 6% of New Zealand’s annual electricity generation. Most wind farms are connected to distributed networks with only Tararua (stage 3), Te Apiti and West Wind being grid connected. The most recent wind farm constructed was Flat Hill in 2015.
