New Zealand Wind Energy Association 2022 AGM

The Annual General Meeting of the NZWEA was held on Wednesday 26th October 2022 at Buddle Findlay, Wellington.

At the AGM members elected Jarek Pole (BlueFloat Energy), Stephanie Cook (Mercury) Peter McCafferty (Beca) and William Thorp (Elemental Group) for two-year terms joining existing directors who retire by rotation at the 2023 AGM.

Members also approved the Association's financial statements and presentations were given by Blair Walter (Chair) and Grenville Gaskell (Chief Executive). The presentations covered NZWEA’s strategy, an update on international trends, recent Association activities and future priorities.

Decarbonisation of the energy sector is accelerating with a significant new renewables build programme already underway. It is clear that the wind industry is at the forefront of an exciting future contributing towards New Zealand meeting its climate change goals.

Our guest speaker this year was Peter Nunns, Director Economics at The NZ Infrastructure Commission. Peter spoke of the transition challenges in the context of Aotearoa New Zealand’s net zero target. His talk included a specific focus on renewable electricity generation and the unprecedented build programme in front of us, how the cost of various technologies is changing and the challenges we still need to solve.

Thanks to members who were able to attend and for those who could not presentations are available here:
