Offshore Wind Steering Group

The purpose of the Offshore Wind Working Group (OWWG) is to provide a networking and information sharing platform for professionals with an interest in offshore wind in New Zealand.

The group is a committee of the NZWEA who adhere to these Terms of Reference.  The OWWG meets via video link 3-4 times per year but encourages interaction between members at other times.

The OWWG  is guided by a Steering Committee which meets regularly to organise OWWG meetings, liaise on conference and forum topics, communicate news to members and to formulate submissions on matters of common interest to the development of offshore wind in New Zealand.

As of February 2024, the Steering Committee comprised:

  • Kevin Hart (New Zealand Wind Energy Association) CEO
  • Nick Cozens (Beca) OWWG Chair
  • Giacomo Caleffi (Taranaki Offshore Partnership - by NZ Super Fund & Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners)
  • Takumi Miyakoshi (Sumitomo Corp)
  • Andy Evans (Oceanex)
  • Tom Young (Bluefloat / Elemental Group)
  • Peter Spencer (Parkwind)

How do I join the OWWG?

Send an email to Nick Cozens explaining your professional interest in offshore wind. We encourage a wide range of expertise from engineering, science, policy, management, logistics, trade union and legal backgrounds.

How much time is involved?

Participation and time commitment is at any level you choose ranging from observer, if you just want to listen in to meetings and be 'kept in the loop', to active contributor and presenter.
