New Zealand Wind Energy Association 2019 AGM

The Association's AGM was held on Wednesday 30th October 2019 in Wellington.

At the AGM the Association's financial statements were approved and presentations were given by Blair Walter (Chair) and Grenville Gaskell (Chief Executive). The presentations covered NZWEA’s strategy, an update on international trends, recent Association activities and future priorities.

This year Andrew Renton, Senior Principal Engineer, Transpower was our guest speaker.

Andrew presented on climate change, demand, and wind as part of the story.

His presentation covered electricity demand growth, an overview of the energy system (including electricity, oil, gas and coal) and outlined options that would lead to a carbon neutral energy system by 2050 including meeting the dry winter issue and minimising end consumer impacts.

Options considered include renewable overbuild, pumped hydro, battery storage and several hydrogen options.

We hope you enjoy the presentations and thanks to members who attended.
