Regulatory Framework for Offshore Renewable Energy

The Government has committed to reaching net zero by 2050 and has set a target that 50 per cent of total energy consumption will come from renewable sources by 2035. The recent government has committed to doubling renewable energy by 2050.
Offshore renewable energy generation could play a significant role in this energy transition and become a major part of Aotearoa New Zealand’s future energy mix.

2024 – Harapaki Wind Farm is Operational

Harapaki, New Zealand’s second-largest wind farm is now fully operational, producing enough electricity to power 70,000 average homes, the equivalent of most of Hawke’s Bay.
