Meridian Energy is a leading developer of renewable energy and provides electricity to homes and businesses in New Zealand and Australia.
They are the largest electricity generator in New Zealand, producing 100% of their electricity from renewable sources: wind and water. As a result, they make the most significant contribution to the Government’s target of 90% renewable generation by 2025.
Meridian has developed ten wind farms in Australia and New Zealand, as well as the world’s first wind farm in Antarctica. They are also guardians of some of New Zealand’s most iconic hydro assets, including Manapouri power station which is located in a world heritage site.
The company supports some of New Zealand’s most important sectors - from agriculture to small and medium businesses. Their largest customer is the Tiwai Point Aluminium smelter near Bluff, which uses around 14% of New Zealand’s total electricity supply.
