Tararua Wind Farm

The Tararua wind farm is located on the south side of the Manawatu Gorge, in the North Island, 10km from the city of Palmerston North. Map

It consists of 103 Vestas V47 660kW turbines and 31 Vestas V90 3.0MW turbines. It has a total installed capacity of 161 MW.

The wind farm was built in three stages:
Stage 1 - 1999 - 31.7 MW
Stage 2 - 2004 - 36.3 MW
Stage 3 - 2007 – 93.0 MW
