Southbridge Wind Turbine

The Southbridge wind turbine is located 5 km. from Southbridge near Christchurch in the South Island.

The development consists of a single 100kW Tellus turbine atop a 45 metre lattice tower.

This is a Danish machine that was first commissioned in 1993 in Denmark but which was subsequently re-sold into the New Zealand market. It was commissioned, in its current location, in March 2005.

This one turbine generates enough clean, sustainable electricity to meet the annual electricity needs of approximately 30 average Kiwi homes.
