Brooklyn Wind Turbine

The Brooklyn wind turbine was installed on the top of Brooklyn Hill, Wellington in March 1993 as part of a research project. Map

This Vestas turbine has a blade length of 13.5 meters and the nacelle is 31.5 meters above the ground.

Maximum output of 225kW is enough to supply about 60-80 homes throughout the year.

Turbines today have about 10 times the capacity of this early model.
