Tararua Wind Farm
- Stage 3
Construction of stage 3 of TrustPower's Tararua windfarm, which began in January 2006, is now well progressed. The civil component, including foundations and roads is more than 80% complete with 20 of the 31 foundations poured and the remainder expected to be finished before the end of November. The largest road construction in the project, a 30,000 cubic meter fill across a gully, has been completed also.
The electrical substation will be commissioned in November and the first of two main transformers arrived on site on October 11th, taking more
than 1 hour to get up the 1.3km access road. The first turbines are expected to arrive on site in January and electricity production is expected in February, as per the original project plan.
