Belmont Met Mast - Wellington



The following series of images shows some of the work involved in installing a typical meteorological mast (commonly referred to as a 'met mast') for measuring the wind speed at a potential wind farm site. This one, which is 70 metres in height, is being installed by BCL for Greater Wellington Regional Council on some of its land at Belmont Regional Park, just outside Wellington. In the background, on some of these photos, you can see Porirua (and suburbs) - a town about 10km north of Wellington:
