Ventus Energy has received consent to build a 17 turbine wind farm 10 kilometres south of Taharoa in the Waitomo District. Turbines will have a tip height of up to 110m.
Construction of an initial phase of 6 turbines, with a capacity of 9.6MW, is due to start in the third quarter of 2011.
