Energy3's new 1 megawatt Lulworth wind farm, near Ward in Marlborough, is now operating. 

Energy3 installed four secondhand Micon 530 wind turbines at the site. These are the same machines as used at Energy3’s nearby Weld Cone wind farm. The turbines have a capacity of 250kW each, giving the wind farm a capacity of 1 MW.

The turbines were shipped from Denmark. They arrived in New Zealand at the end of August 2010, and were commissioned in January 2011.

The wind farm is expected to generate 3.2 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year – which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 320 homes.
