Transpower

"Transpower was established as a State Owned Enterprise in 1994. It owns and operates New Zealand's National Grid which is made up of 12,000 km of transmission lines and more than 170 substations and switchyards. Electricity is transmitted over the National Grid at high voltages (220 kV and 110 kV) from power stations to local lines companies and major industries.
Transpower is also the System Operator, responsible for co-ordinating and managing the transmission of electricity across that national grid.
A strong grid facilitates the connection of new generation, wherever it may be located. This is important for generation projects that do not allow for transportation of the generation resource (like wind and water)."
