Kevin Hart is the Country Leader for General Electric, and an NZWEA Board Member elected by corporate members at the NZWEA 2016 AGM.
GE recently appointed Kevin Hart to be its first Country Leader in New Zealand. Kevin brings over 35 years of energy sector experience to the NZWEA Board that spans numerous electricity sector businesses covering transmission, distribution and power generation. Prior to joining GE, Kevin was General Manager Business Development Asia Pacific for specialist engineering consulting firm, Power Systems Consultants, and NZ Country Sales Director of French multinational, Alstom Grid. Kevin has also held senior management roles at national grid owner & operator Transpower New Zealand and has previously worked for manufacturing firms such as ABB, Tyree Power Construction and Reyrolle Pacific Switchgear. He has worked internationally both in the US and throughout Asia during his varied background but remains a loyal and passionate Kiwi.
Kevin has a strong interest in renewable energy developments specifically the ongoing growth and integration of wind energy assets into the grid. He also has a keen interest in the development of Digital innovations specific to the energy sector, and was previously involved in the development of the NZ wholesale electricity market and associated hedge market systems and technologies. Kevin was also a previous Board member of NZWEA serving for two and a half years from 2013 to early 2015.
Kevin’s role at GE is to represent the company’s varied NZ business portfolio covering energy generation, transmission, distribution and industrial solutions, along with all other GE industrial activities. GE’s vision is to be the world’s first Digital Industrial company using its cloud based solution ‘Predix’ leveraging data analytics and predictive technologies that increase infrastructure and production efficiencies. The wind sector is therefore a key industry that would greatly benefit from this strategic direction.
