Description: Contact Energy is New Zealand's largest publicly listed energy company, with more than 90,000 shareholders. Contact generates between 25 and 30 per cent of New Zealand's total electricity and is also a retailer of electricity and natural gas. Contact generates electricity from renewable hydro and geothermal power stations, and from efficient, combined-cycle natural gas-fired plants. Contact is currently pursuing an investment programme of up to $2 billion in new renewable electricity generation, with a focus on geothermal and wind energy.
